As an athlete, you work hard to be in prime shape for your chosen sport. ItÂ’s hard work staying in shape, practicing, and competing. The last thing you want to deal with is an injury, especially one that lingers and takes away from your concentration and performance. If you are serious about your sport, you should add regular sportsmassage as a necessary part of your training program.
Sportsmassage has become an important aspect of training for many athletes for three reasons:
To inprove performance and avoid injury To prepare for competition
To recover from strenuous conditioning, practice, competition and injuries
To prevent poor performance and injury we need to treat muscular pain and dysfunction. The discomfort you often feel comes from trigger points that develop in your muscles and other tissue. These trigger points, if left unattended, will eventually lead to injury and/or poor performance. During a sportsmassage, I find those triggers and eliminate them. I also know which muscles you use most in your sport and make sure they are all in good working order. When you receive regular sportsmassage, you are also keeping your body in good alignment.Maintaining good posture is a major factor in avoiding injury. Many athletes find that sportsmassage before competition is a major asset for performance.Getting rid of the soreness from conditioning, the stress of preparation and having an opportunity to relax helps you focus.
Every athlete needs to plan ways to recover from all the preparation for competition.Recovery is a very important aspect of training and sportsmassage is a great way to accomplish this.Through increased circulation, improved flexibility, and stress reduction, you are keeping your body and mind in the best shape possible.
