Another national collegiate sports organization is the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The NAIA was founded in 1937 and represents more than 500 colleges in the U.S. Mostly comprised of smaller colleges, the NAIA is divided into 32 districts and hosts national championships in sports such as baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, track, and wrestling.

Similar to the NCAA, the NAIA awards full or partial scholarships for eligible student-athletes. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) began in California in 1937. Over 500 schools divided into three divisions, comprise the makeup of the organization. Like the NCAA, Division I NJCAA award full or partial scholarships. Division II schools also award scholarships, but only for tuition, books, and fees. Division III schools may not ward athletic scholarships. Some Division III schools compete in Division I and II, however.
