Recruitment companies ask for "X" amount of dollars to "get your resume in the college's hands." They do receive your resume, in a stack of 100 other resumes. Athletic directors say these mass mailings go directly to the recycling bin.

The same athletic directors say that if they receive an e-mail directly from the student/athlete they have a responsibility to respond.

We are creating a new way for student/athletes to participate in the recruiting process. We are allowing the student to directly contact the athletic department of the colleges that they are interested in attending.

There are two levels of membership. The first level is free and allows any student/athlete to fill out his or her school and athletic resumes. This will allow colleges to view your information. If the colleges are interested they will be able to make contact with the student/athlete.

The second level allows the student/athlete to make direct contact with athletic directors. The student/athlete will be able to store his or her information in one place. This includes resume, cover letters, lists of potential colleges, and past e-mails. Student/athletes will have their own SAEF e-mail with which to contact athletic directors. We will also provide student/athletes with examples of cover letters, along with advice about choosing and contacting colleges. We will provide samples of cover letters, resume forms, and request for information letters. There will be a nominal fee charged for the second level. (Approximately $30)
