Internet Links to Various Resources

The internet is a fascinating place to find all kinds of information. We have included a variety of links that may be of interest to student/athletesand their families. They include college search sites, career information sites, two-year and community college search pages, and financial aid information and a variety of internet resource links to worlds of helpful information.

College Search

Locating college homepages

In addition to the information about colleges already included in the Student/Athlete Resource Center, here are several other websites dedicated to listing colleges throughout the US and around the world.

Christina DeMello Search - probably one of the most complete sites anyway and constantly being updated.

College Edge - You can find advise on careers, search college homepages, and learn about financial aid sources here.

CollegeNet - A good link to search for academic resources.

CollegeeXpress - You can register free here and search colleges by profile, location or name. There is also information about the college applications process and direct e-mail to many colleges.

The College Board - The College Board is one of the most trustworthy search programs. You can build a profile to help you search for colleges that meet your needs; apply on-line to those schools with on-line applications and register for the SAT.

U.S. Dept. of Education - This is a site developed by the U. S. Department of Education which has a wealth of information about choosing a college. There's a great database where you can enter your criteria and find matches.

Peterson's - Peterson's publishes a well-known college guide. There are links to 4,000 colleges and lots of other data at this site.

The Princeton Review - You can search for college sites by name, region, state, and cost. The Princeton Review also gives you their ratings of colleges within its database.

Community College Search - another good database of community colleges.

Search by Video - This company has more than 400 college videos you can order for $6.00 each.

Financial Aid Resources

Financing your college education requires diligence and perseverence. There are a variety of resources available. We have chosen to include only those groups that are non-profit as well as the federal government programs. Banks and commercial organizations are another source of financial aid. Don't forget to review the national sports organizations such as the NCAA and NAIA for sports-related financial aid and scholarships.

Non-Profit Groups

National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators - FinAid offers excellent searches to other internet sites for information about student loans. Mark Kantrowitz, a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University has won awards for this site. Don't miss it!

Financial Aid Information Page - a free, comprehensive guide to student financia aid. This is also a good link to many newsgroups and mailing lists on the internet.

Fast Web - This is the Internet's largest free scholarship search. It provides users with a mailbox for updates and new programs.
